Galerius (305 - 311CE)

Galerius (305 - April/May 311CE). Gaius Galerius Valerius Maximianus was a competent military leader. Although a leading figure against Christianity, he admitted failure in eradicating it and issued the Edict of Toleration in 311 ending the Diocletianic Persecution. He died of either bowel cancer or gangrene.
