Macrinus (217-218 CE)

Macrinus (April 217–8 June 218). Marcus Opellius Severus Macrinus had Caracalla murdered and thereby succeeded him as Augustus. He ruled jointly with his son, Diadumenianus until Julia Maesa instigated a rebellion which resulted in his defeat at the Battle of Antioch. Elagabalus, 14 year old grandson of Julia Maesa, succeeded to the thrown.
